Sudberry Properties will host a grand opening celebration for EastLake Village Marketplace on Saturday, November 15, 2003. Festivities will begin with a private reception and ribbon-cutting ceremony, which will be open to the media, from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. The reception will be attended by approximately 100 invited guests, including Chula Vista city officials and representatives from the local police and fire departments, Sweetwater School District, Chula Vista Chamber of Commerce, EastLake master-planned community, and center merchants. City of Chula Vista Mayor Steven Padilla and Assemblywoman Shirley Horton will be the guests of honor.

From 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., a grand opening celebration will be held for the public, featuring a host of free community- and family-oriented games, store giveaways, drawings, food and refreshments, live entertainment, and other activities.

"With EastLake Village Marketplace, our goal was to create a unique, community-focused atmosphere that will further enhance the feeling of community within EastLake and the surrounding areas," said Colton Sudberry, vice president of development for Sudberry Properties. "Residents can enjoy the convenience of neighborhood shopping, dining at one of seven great restaurants, or just relaxing and socializing in one of the outdoor plazas."

Situated on 35 acres, EastLake Village Marketplace serves as the gateway and town center hub for the EastLake community and its residents. Anchored by Target and Lowe's Home Improvement Warehouse, the center encompasses a dynamic mix of more than 30 tenants, including: Office Depot, Islands, Miguel's Mexican Cocina, Johnny Carino's, Prudential, Wendy's, Chevron, Wells Fargo Bank, Union Bank, Bank of America, Wendy's, Starbucks, Daphne's Greek Cafe, Jamba Juice, Coldstone Cremery, Bento & Noodles, Subway, Payless Shoe Source, Sleep Train Mattress Center and more.

Reflecting the ranching and farming history of the area, the design of EastLake Village Marketplace recaptures the essence of the "village town center," while addressing contemporary needs of patrons. Buildings vary in size from intimately scaled shops and restaurants, to larger stores totaling up to 137,000 square feet of retail space. To complement the shopping and dining experience, EastLake Village Marketplace also includes outdoor seating areas that encourage socializing and relaxation, including a large patio with shade trees, trellises, water misters, and an outdoor fireplace.
