Marco A. Sessa Appointed to Vice President of Development at Sudberry Properties, Inc.

Marco A. Sessa has been appointed to serve as vice president of development at Sudberry Properties, Inc., announced Thomas Sudberry, Jr., president of the San Diego-based real estate development and asset management firm.

In his new position, Sessa is responsible for managing the entitlement process and development of Quarry Falls, a 230-acre mixed-use development located in the Mission Valley area of San Diego. Quarry Falls will be comprised of residential, retail, office, civic and open space, designed to create an urban village following the strategic framework of San Diego's "City of Villages" development strategy.

With more than eight years of experience in the construction and engineering industry, Sessa has performed all facets of project management for multi-family residential, office, retail, hotel, infrastructure, and environmental remediation projects. Prior to joining the executive team of Sudberry Properties, he served more than four years as project engineer for Reno Contracting, Inc. in San Diego. While there, Sessa oversaw more than 670,000 square feet of build-to-suit office developments, with construction costs totaling $94 million.

Prior experience also includes having served as a staff engineer with Aguirre Engineers in Englewood, Colo.; and as construction supervisor for Hampleman Architects in Denver, Colo.

Sessa received his bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colo., where he subsequently earned his masters degree in civil engineering, with emphasis in construction engineering management. He later attended the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles, where he earned his masters of real estate development through USC's School of Policy, Planning, and Development. Sessa currently is an active member of the International Council of Shopping Centers and the Urban Land Institute.

Born in Santiago, Chile and raised in Denver, Sessa currently resides in La Jolla, Calif. with his wife, Chelsea, and their nine-month-old daughter, Isabella.
