Sudberry Properties and Pardee Homes Host Groundbreaking Ceremony for Canyon Hills Marketplace in Lake Elsinore.

Sudberry Properties, Inc. and Pardee Homes hosted a formal groundbreaking ceremony last Thursday for Canyon Hills Marketplace, a new 135,000-square-foot neighborhood shopping center located three miles east of I-15 on Railroad Canyon and Canyon Hills roads, within the 4,200-home master-planned community of Canyon Hills, just east of Lake Elsinore, Calif.

Sudberry Properties, based in San Diego, is the developer of Canyon Hills Marketplace. Pardee Homes, a leading home builder, is the developer of the Canyon Hills master-planned community.

The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by approximately 70 elected officials, community leaders, and members of the project team. Dignitaries presiding over the ceremony were Lake Elsinore Mayor Robert Magee; Robert Brady, Lake Elsinore city manager; Tom Grady, 2nd Vice Chair of the Lake Elsinore Chamber of Commerce; Tom Sudberry, president of Sudberry Properties; Colton Sudberry, vice president of Sudberry Properties; and Jim Stringer, director of community development for Pardee Homes. Mayor Magee was presented a commemorative shovel by Colton Sudberry and Greg Sorich, vice president of multifamily housing for Pardee Homes. The 30-member Canyon Lake Middle School Band, led by Pat Hartman, performed before and after the official ceremony.

Tenants of Canyon Hills Marketplace to date include Longs Drugs, Starbucks, Bank of America, Jack in the Box, Chevron, Carl’s Jr., Postal Annex+, Subway, Blockbuster, Big O Tires, Canyon Hills Cleaners, Los Jilbertos and more.

Designed to embrace a California winery ambience and maintain the feel of the surrounding Canyon Hills community, the center will feature stone facades, gable roofs, open truss elements, broken-down massing elements, accessible pedestrian links and rich landscaping.

SGPA Architecture & Planning is the architect. Construction is scheduled to begin in spring 2005 and is slated for completion in the first quarter of 2006.
