August 20, 2007
More and more retailers are opening for business in Village Walk at EastLake, a 162,000 square-foot retail development in Chula Vista. San Diego-based Sudberry Development Inc. said construction will wrap up by the end of September. The center is 95 percent leased.

"Village Walk at EastLake will provide the community of Chula Vista with a mix of higher-end retail stores and restaurants," said Colton Sudberry, vice president of Sudberry Development. "The goal for the new center was to enrich the community environment and offer the types of shopping and dining options that previously haven't existed in the area."

Already, Borders bookstore, Mission Federal Credit Union, Pat & Oscar's, and Trophy's Restaurant have opened their doors in Village Walk at EastLake, located on EastLake Parkway off Otay Lakes Road. The development features 16 separate buildings.

The focal point of the project is a large pond, surrounded by walking paths and outdoor seating areas. Additional aesthetic features include lush landscaping, statues, stone fountain, Italian light fixtures and clock tower.

Village Walk is adjacent to Sudberry Development's EastLake Village Marketplace, a 410,000 square-foot shopping center, which opened in 2003.

Fehlman LaBarre Architecture and Planning of San Diego is the project architect for Village Walk. Stuart Engineering is the civil engineer. San Diego-based Nowell & Associates is the landscape architect with Turpin & Rattan Engineering Inc. of La Mesa serving as the mechanical engineer and Davar & Associates Inc. as the mechanical and plumbing engineer and Ron Neal lighting Design of Carlsbad as the lighting designer.

Sudberry Development has 4.2 million square feet of retail space completed, under construction or in pre-construction. In addition, it has 3.8 million square feet of office or industrial space in the planning stages, under construction or completed.
