Sudberry Properties and Partners Break Ground On 170,000-Square-Foot Arena in El Corazon

The San Diego Sockers, in partnership with Sudberry Properties and a private ownership group, recently broke ground on a new arena to be built in El Corazon in Oceanside.

The 170,000-square-foot arena, which will host 6,367 fans for sporting events and up to 8,000 for concerts, will include a full-service restaurant, bars and concessions, a plaza area, and ten luxury suites.

The development team includes Watkins Landmark Construction and Icon Architectural Group. The arena is projected to be open for the San Diego Sockers 2023 season opener.

Sudberry Properties is the master developer of El Corazon, a 465-acre mixed-use development owned by the city of Oceanside. It is home to Sudberry Properties’ SoCal Sports Complex, which features 21-full size soccer fields on 52.5 acres. The company is also in the planning stages to build a 286-unit apartment community and future retail.
