Sudberry Properties’ apartment communities were recently honored at the Mark of Excellence Awards, sponsored by the Southern California Rental Housing Association. 

Stephanie Aguilera of Luma at El Corazón achieved First Place in the “Resident Relations Coordinator of the Year” category, and Carlos Martinez of The Hub at Scripps Ranch received Second Place honors in the same category.

The San Diego Architectural Foundation honored Creekside Park in Civita with an “Orchid” award in the Landscape Architecture category during the annual Orchids & Onions ceremony on Oct. 2.

The 1.3-acre linear park extends from Friars Road to Civita Boulevard and is adjacent to the 14.3-acre Civita Park. Creekside Park includes elevated walkways spanning a cobble swale below, a children’s play area, seating, picnic areas and an off-leash dog run.

The Sudberry Properties’ team was elated at this year’s Icon Awards, where they won five First Place Awards: Best Company Website for Sudberry Properties, Best Overall Advertising/Marketing Campaign for Civita, and three First Place Awards for Luma at El Corazon.

A recent article in Building Enclosure Magazine discusses the transformation of Civita from a sand and gravel quarry into a successful urban village.

The 2025 San Diego Design Awards, sponsored by the American Institute of Architects, recently presented an Honor Award in the Urban Design category to Carrier Johnson + Culture for the master plan of Civita. Civita is a 230-acre urban village in San Diego’s Mission Valley, developed by Sudberry Properties in collaboration with the Grant family, which has owned the former quarry property since the early 1900s.

Local artist Kevin Anderson, who painted a colossal 72-foot-long, 270-degree mural in a pedestrian tunnel in the Civita community, was recently profiled in the San Diego Union-Tribune following the completion of his latest murals in the Solana Beach Post Office.

CoStar honored Sudberry Properties with a 2025 Impact Award and named Luma at El Corazon the “Multifamily Development of the Year” for San Diego County.

The Nationals℠, an international homebuilding and design competition that attracted 1,200 entries, has honored Civita with Silver Awards in three categories: Master-Planned Community of the Year, Best Community Amenity for Civita Park, and Best Website for a Community. Silver Award winners are also finalists for The Nationals Gold Awards, which will be announced at the International Builders Show in Las Vegas on Feb. 25.

Oceanside’s Frontwave Arena will be the home of the professional indoor football team, San Diego Strike Force, beginning with the 2025 season. Established in 2019, Strike Force has just wrapped up its most successful season. Congratulations to Toll Brothers, winner of the coveted “Attached Community of the Year” Award for its Everly neighborhood in the 2024 MAME Awards, which judge new home communities throughout Southern California. Everly was also honored with the “Best Architectural Design of an Individual Attached Home Plan” award for its E4 model.

Steve Puterski, a columnist for NorthCountyDailyStar.com, enthusiastically praised the new Frontwave Arena following the LA Clippers vs. Brooklyn Nets preseason game.
